Planet Angel Roundup
Saturday, 15 April 2006

[PA 14th April]What a night!  I had the best time I've had in months, and it really feels like the party is settling into its new venue.  I was playing in the Meltdown room, 10:00-11:15 and 2:45-4:15 where Mike Jackson (with a slick and professional progressive set), Paul Mayes of Boundless (with his irresistable blend of old and new) and Rolo (the poundingest basslines in trance) also pulled off a musical triumph of a night.

My personal awards for tunes of the night have to go to Edin Bosnjak's Alluring Wishes, which made the en[PA 14th April]tire room explode, and Paul Mayes pulling out a number which had me and everybody else climbing the ceiling - Nu Nrg's Casino.  What an incredible tune.

There's a cracking set of pics by Tony O'Halloran up on the new Planet Angel Website - check them out here.

Charts - April 2006
Wednesday, 12 April 2006

It feels strange trying to put all the different facets and emotions that make a up a good set into a preference order - the natural tendency is to place the tunes that get the biggest reactions to the top, but that doesn't give anywhere enough credence to the amazing music that can drive people into the state of pent-up adrenalin where the right tune can rip through them and create those kind of explosive reactions.  I've tried to make sure different "states" are catered for this month.  Every great tune has its place in a set and on a night.

I haven't felt the need to put together a chart for a long time - not enough music seems to have been around.  But now - wow!  Suddenly great music is flowing out from all quarters and it is possible - way more than possible!  I'm feeling really good about the trance scene especially at the moment - there's a lot of passion out there and I think the digital revolution is fuelling it.  Here's what's rocking my world at the moment:

  1. Edin Bosnjak - Alluring Wishes [FiveAM]
  2. Sunny Lax - P.U.M.A [Anjunabeats]
  3. Michael Angelo & Jim - One Step Beyond (Gavyn Mytchel Remix) [Six:Thirty Promo]
  4. NEW ENTRY! Union Jack - Two Full Moons and a Trout (Tektonik Remix) [Sly One "Banging" Edit]
  5. Son Kite - On Air (Lemon 8 Remix) [Digital Structures]
  6. Motionchild - Paradise [Camouflage]
  7. Vibrasphere - Landmark [Digital Structures]
  8. John O'Callaghan -  Chameleon (Thomas Datt Remix) [Discover]
  9. Gerry Cueto vs Bika - Daydreaming (Gerry Dubs It Remix) [Enhanced]
  10. Cor Fijneman - Final Round (Sly One Re-edit) [Armind]
  11. Lady Miami - The Unknown Lady (Big Hook Mix)

All quiet on the front
Sunday, 19 March 2006

To anyone who's noticed my absence from the circuit recently, I've been taking a bit of a break for the last couple of months - Planet Angel missing two parties (January and March) during the venue move has given me the opportunity to take a bit of time out, and I've been spending some seriously quality time getting new tunes.  Oh my, there's some seriously good stuff out there at the moment.

I'm looking forward to getting back into the rat-race in the next couple of weeks, refreshed and raring to go!

See you all out there!

Tidy vs Extreme Euphoria, Heaven, 27th January
Tuesday, 29 November 2005
[TIDY EUPHORIA]

This should be a big one!  The lineup is huge if you're a hard dance fan and the house and trance rooms will put the icing on the cake.

I join K.A.R.L., John Funnell and Alan Banks in the Trance room, and the Tidy Boys, Anne Savage, Alphazone, Lisa Pinup, Lee Haslam and Paul Maddox headline the main hard dance room.

Check out the flyer here and here and here

Dancing for Children In Need - 19th November
Friday, 18 November 2005
I've been drafted in at the last second to play the closing set at Turnmills tomorrow for the annual TranceNDance Children in Need benefit.  This was a great fun gig last year and this year with the move to the legendary Turnmills it looks set to move up a gear!  I'll be following the likes of Graham Gold, Vicky Devine, Adam White and my good friends Jurrane and Paul Mayes aka Custard.

Planet Angel 11th November
Sunday, 13 November 2005
Yet another stunning night.  Planet Angel seems to subtly change every month now - every single time there is something new to see, play with and dance your tits off to, and this was no exception.
The big feature of the night had to be VJ Stickman's stunning visual display, illuminating the entire DJ side of Arch 2, above which I had the pleasure of jumping around like a fool as usual.  The new, all-inclusive music policy is beginning to show, with fun, tribal and psychedelic influences mixed in with sensitivity, exuberance and a healthy dollop of euphoria.  I'm dead proud to be involved.  Head to www.planetangel.net for the latest set of photos.

TranceNDance/Guilt @ Southside Bar, 27th Oct
Friday, 28 October 2005
What a great night! The Magic Beans Records showcase night at TND/Guilt went down a storm, and I had the pleasure of rounding the evening off after some cracking and varied sets from Tequila and Jurrane. Tunes of the night? Could have been any one of Flashbang - Grooveslide, the still-unstoppable Sushi - The Earthshaker, or either of my own Gamma Storm or House of Muzik... to be honest the crowd were just up for it from the off after a tantalisingly teasing set from Jurrane - I'm sure he's going to carve himself a respected residency over the coming months!

Wicked night!
Saturday, 15 October 2005
Thanks for all the positive comments about Euphorasm 3 on the Digitally Imported Radio forums. Loads of you made the effort to hook up to the Planet Angel Live show later in the evening to catch me and a fantastic selection of other DJ talent banging out what many are saying was a real musical classic. If you enjoyed the show, don't forget to post on the Planet Angel guestbook. See you next month!
